Netflix Sets Stand-Up Specials From Gabriel Iglesias, Ali Wong, Jo Koy and More

 In Press

Ahead of the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival beginning on Wednesday in Los Angeles, Netflix has announced new stand-up specials from seven comics: Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Ali WongJo Koy, Bert “The Machine” Kreischer, Deon Cole, Fortune Feimster and Michelle Buteau.

Iglesias has set two new specials, with one taping at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Fla. this July and another with details yet to come. These mark his fourth and fifth Netflix specials, following “Stadium Fluffy” (2022) — taped at a sold-out show during the inaugural Netflix Is a Joke that made him the first-ever comedian to perform at Dodger Stadium — as well as “One Show Fits All” (2019) and “I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry” (2016). Iglesias also starred in and executive produced the multi-cam comedy series “Mr. Iglesias,” which ran on Netflix for two seasons from 2019 to 2020.

Wong will tape her special during Netflix Is a Joke while performing a 12-show residency at the Wiltern in L.A. This is her third Netflix special, following “Don Wong” (2022), “Hard Knock Wife” (2018) and “Baby Cobra” (2016). Wong also won an Emmy for her performance in the 2023 Netflix limited series “Beef.”

Koy’s special, which is “coming soon” per Netflix, was taped at the Kings Theater in Brooklyn, N.Y. in November 2023. This marks his fifth special at the streamer, following “Live From The Los Angeles Forum” (2022), “Comin’ In Hot” (2019), and “Live From Seattle” (2017) and his variety special “In His Elements” (2020).

Kreischer will tape the first of the two-special deal Variety exclusively reported at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, Fla. in July. The deal sets out his fourth and fifth Netflix specials following “Razzle Dazzle,” “Hey Big Boy” (2020) and “Secret Time” (2018). Kreischer is also known for starring in Sony Pictures’ “The Machine” based on his 2016 stand-up special of the same name. Both the set and film now stream on Netflix.

Cole will tape his special during Netflix Is a Joke at the Los Angeles Theater. Netflix previously released his specials “Charleen’s Boy” (2022) and “Cole Hearted” (2019). He also appeared in Season 1 of Netflix’s multi-comic series “The Standups” (2017).

Feimster will debut her third Netflix special later this year, following “Good Fortune” (2022) and “Sweet & Salty” (2020). She can also be seen in “Standout: An LGBTQ+ Celebration,” which was taped at Netflix Is a Joke Fest in 2022, as well as Season 1 of “The Standups” (2017) and the Arnold Schwarzenegger-led Netflix series “FUBAR.”

Buteau will tape her second Netflix special at Radio City Music Hall this summer, following “Welcome to Buteaupia” (2020). She also produces, writes and stars in the Netflix comedy series “Survival of the Thickest,” which has been renewed for a second season, and hosts the Netflix reality competition shows “The Circle” and “Barbecue Showdown.”
